Choose The Palm for a roof with both a pool and a bar. Hotel guests swim, and the Roof Club bar admits non-guests 18 and over, with happy hour from 4 to 9 PM.
The pool
The pool is on the Roof Club rooftop in Centro, with a jacuzzi, a lounge area and a full-service bar alongside. Views take in the Caribbean Sea and the Playa del Carmen skyline. The catch is that pool hours aren't published, and the hotel's pages disagree on children.
Our take
The Palm is the one rooftop in this part of our list where a non-guest can at least reach the roof, because the Roof Club bar is open to outside visitors. The pool itself is for hotel guests. Hotels such as Hyatt Centric and Aloft sell day passes; this one doesn't.
The downside is the child rule. The FAQ says families are welcome at the pool, while the amenities page says 14+ for the pool and jacuzzi. Ask before you book with kids. Pool hours aren't given either, only the bar's close at 11 PM.
Good to know
- Rooms from $56 USD a night (hotel FAQ, undated)
- Happy hour at the Roof Club daily, 4 to 9 PM
- Bar open to non-guests, 18+ only
- Three weekly yoga classes are free for guests
The catches
- Pool hours aren't published
- Pool age rule conflicts: 14+ on one page, families welcome on another
Best forTravelers after a jacuzzi, a bar and a rooftop pool in Centro at a low room rate.
Skip it ifYou're traveling with children under 14 and need a firm answer on pool access.
Getting in
Staying at the hotel gets you onto the pool and jacuzzi, and no day pass is sold.
The Roof Club bar is open to non-guests, but only 18 and over, and the bar runs until 11 PM. The amenities page says children 14 and up are welcome at the pool and jacuzzi.
Tips
- Time your visit for happy hour, 4 to 9 PM, if you only want the bar.
- Expect a live DJ on weekends; pick a weekday for a quieter roof.
Before you go. If you're bringing children, email to ask for pool hours and the age rule, since the hotel's own pages give two answers.
