When to swim on a Porto rooftop

July to September is the best window for a rooftop swim in Porto. Porta Nobre is open only from May to October, so a winter stay there gets no swim. Average highs are 17.1°C in November, 14.4°C in December and 13.8°C in January.

For cold months, book a heated pool: Pestana Vintage Porto, Hotel Vincci Bonjardim and Renaissance Porto Lapa are the heated ones on our list. Casa da Companhia has a heated indoor spa pool, but its roof pool is not heated. The São João street party on June 23-24 and Primavera Sound Porto on 10-13 June 2027 fall in the warm months, so book early. Fantasporto (February/March) and the Porto Interceltic Festival (March) come in cooler weather.

Average daily highs: November 17°C (63°F), December 14°C (58°F), January 14°C (57°F). The warmest stretch for swimming is Jul–Sep.

Where to stay: Porto's rooftop pools by area

Cheaper ways to swim in Porto

Public pools cost less than a hotel stay, though none publishes an adult price. Marés Swimming Pool in Leça da Palmeira is a saltwater pool by Álvaro Siza Vieira, and Piscina da Quinta sa Conceiçao nearby sells half or full days.

  • Marés Swimming Pool (Leça da Palmeira). Public saltwater pool by Álvaro Siza Vieira. No adult admission price is stated in the sources.
  • Piscina da Quinta sa Conceiçao (Leça da Palmeira). Outdoor public pool. The source says you can pay for a half day or a full day, but gives no price.
  • Piscina Municipal da Constituição. Municipal public pool. No admission price is stated in the source snippet.

Hotels you might expect here, and why they're not

These Porto hotels often come up in pool searches, but the pool is indoors, in a garden or a courtyard, not on the roof.

  • Porto Palácio Hotel by The Editory. The only pool found is an indoor heated pool inside the hotel's spa. No source places a pool on the roof. The "Rooftop" word in the hotel page title is not tied to any pool.
  • Wine & Books Hotels | Porto - Small Luxury Hotels of the World. The sources describe a rooftop café and restaurant at Wine & Books Porto but mention no pool on the roof. The only pool information is an indoor pool in a general FAQ that does not name this hotel, so no rooftop pool is confirmed.
  • Torel Saboaria. The hotel's own pages describe an outdoor, heated pool in the garden. No source places a pool on the roof or on a top-floor terrace.
  • Hotel Catalonia Porto. Only the hotel's own site describes the pool: an outdoor pool in the interior garden patio, with no roof or top-floor pool stated.
  • PortoBay Flores. The hotel's own structured data lists "Indoor pools" and "Garden patio" and no rooftop pool. The only third-party pool description places the pool in a courtyard. No source places a pool on the roof or a top-floor terrace.
  • Canto de Luz – Boutique Hotel Porto. The main heated pool is described as set in the hotel's gardens, and the villa pool sits in a private garden. No source describes a rooftop or top-floor pool.
  • BessaHotel Baixa. The hotel's own structured data lists a "BPool" amenity described as an indoor pool ("Piscina interio…", truncated). No source places a pool on the roof or a top-floor terrace. The Google Maps listing has no pool information.
  • Crowne Plaza Porto. The hotel's own IHG page states it has no pool. The Google Maps listing tags "Piscina" (pool), but the hotel's own site takes precedence, so no rooftop pool is confirmed.
