Where to stay: Puerto Vallarta's rooftop pools by area
Zona Romántica
Zona Romántica is described as Puerto Vallarta's most walkable and inclusive neighborhood, with cobblestone streets and a LGBTQ+ scene. It is also named as one of the safest places to stay. Residences by Pinnacle 220, Tres Marias and Rivera del Rio are here.
Cheaper ways to swim in Puerto Vallarta
El Rey Pool Club is the only public pool on our list that isn't inside a hotel, and day passes are sold on Superpass. The listing shows a food and beverage credit but no adult price. Look at the Superpass page for the current cost before you head over.
El Rey Pool Club (day pass via Superpass). Only one of the provided sources describes a non-hotel pool open to the public in Puerto Vallarta. The sources do not state an adult admission price, only a food and beverage credit. Other sources cover hotels (Playa Los Arcos, Tropicana, Villa Premiere, and others) or places outside Puerto Vallarta (B Nayar in Riviera Nayarit, Nuevo Vallarta water parks), so I left them out.
Hotels you might expect here, and why they're not
These hotels come up often in Puerto Vallarta searches, but none has a swimming pool on the roof or top floor.
Blue Chairs Beachfront Resort Puerto Vallarta. The hotel mentions a rooftop bar and a "relaxation pool" but no source places a swimming pool on the roof or top floor.
Almar LGBT Luxury Resort. No swimming pool on the roof. The Top Sky Bar is a 13th-floor rooftop bar with no pool mentioned. The pools are Eden Pool & Lounge Garden on the 5th floor (guests only) and the Mantamar Beach Club infinity pool at Los Muertos Beach.
Krystal Grand Puerto Vallarta. The hotel's own pages describe beachfront resort pools ("grandes piscinas", "La Sección Resort"). No source mentions a rooftop or top-floor pool, so it is classed as not-rooftop.
Casa Velas. Sources place the swimming pool among palms at resort grounds and the Táu Beach Club pool on the oceanfront. None says the pool is on the roof or a top-floor terrace.
Villa Premiere Boutique Hotel & Romantic Getaway. The hotel's amenities page says it has two pools set among flower gardens. No source places a pool on the roof or a top-floor terrace. The only jacuzzis mentioned are in suites and on terraces, and the cold plunge is at a sister hotel's spa.
Hacienda de Vallarta Centro. Neither source mentions a swimming pool. The hotel's site text refers only to a terrace, with no pool, so no rooftop pool can be confirmed.
Hotel Porto Allegro Puerto Vallarta. No swimming pool is mentioned in any source. The hotel's site describes a terrace with sun loungers and umbrellas, but not a pool, and the Google Maps listing has no pool information.
Emperador Vallarta Beachfront Hotel & Suites. The hotel's own services page describes a fifth-floor terrace for sunsets and relaxing but never mentions a swimming pool. The Google Maps listing gives only name, type and address. No source confirms a rooftop pool, so the status is not-rooftop, a terrace without a pool.
