Sorrento's best swimming months are July to September, and by December the average high is 13.6°C. Eight Sorrento hotels have a rooftop or top-terrace pool. None sells day passes, three are guests only, and the other five don't publish who can swim.
Our first pick is Hotel Plaza, which publishes hours (daily 09:00 to 19:00) and a season (15 April to 15 October), next to a Skybar that outside visitors can use. For a lower price tier, Hotel Villa Fiorita is a three-star with a small 6 by 3 metre pool and two hot tubs.

Opening June 2026
Why it's here. Only guests in Suites and Junior Suites can use the 6th-floor rooftop pool, so book one of those rooms or skip it. The hotel lists an opening of June 2026, so confirm it is running.
The pool is on the 6th floor of Grand Hotel Flora on Corso Italia, with loungers and a panorama of Sorrento and the horizon. The Sky Bar sits next to it on the same floor. The catch is the room-type restriction.
Best forSuite and Junior Suite guests who want a 6th-floor pool with the Sky Bar next to it.
Skip it ifYou are booking a standard room or want a day pass, since neither gets you onto the roof.
Plan a rooftop swim for July to September, Sorrento's best three months. Hotel Plaza's pool runs 15 April to 15 October, daily 09:00 to 19:00, so it also covers the shoulder weeks. Palazzo Guardati's rooftop pool is seasonal, though the hotel doesn't publish the dates.
Winter is a poor bet. Average highs are 17°C in November, 13.6°C in December and 12.5°C in January, and no hotel on our list publishes a heated pool. Grand Hotel De La Ville regulates its water temperature through the summer, which is not the same as winter heating. No events are listed for the city, so check availability for your dates in any month.
Average daily highs: November 17°C (63°F), December 14°C (56°F), January 13°C (55°F). The warmest stretch for swimming is Jul–Sep.
Hotels you might expect here, and why they're not
Several well-known Sorrento hotels have a pool, or none we can find, but it is not on the roof or a top-floor terrace.
Grand Hotel Capodimonte. The hotel's own pages describe five cascading pools in a green garden setting on terraces, not on a roof or top-floor terrace. The only top-floor feature is a jacuzzi on the 10th-floor Sea Sky Suite terrace, which is not a swimming pool.
Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria. None of the sources mention a swimming pool. The hotel's site describes a terrace and dining at Terrazza Bosquet, but no pool on the roof or a top-floor terrace.
Hotel Continental. The hotel's own site mentions an ample pool and a relax water zone but never says where they are. The only rooftop-type feature it describes is the fifth-floor Terrazza Vittoria terrace, and no pool is attached to it. The Google Maps listing has no pool information. Classified as not-rooftop because no pool is stated on the roof or top-floor terrace.
Hilton Sorrento Palace. No source mentions a swimming pool for this hotel. The US News page lists no pool among its amenities, and the Google Maps listing does not mention one. Nothing supports a rooftop pool.
Grand Hotel Riviera. The hotel's own site describes an outdoor pool surrounded by flowers and palm and eucalyptus plants. No source places the pool on the roof.
Grand Hotel Europa Palace. The hotel's own pool page describes a large outdoor, seafront swimming pool with no rooftop placement stated. No source places the pool on a roof or top-floor terrace, so it cannot be confirmed as rooftop. The US News page lists only "Pools" with no details.
Grand Hotel Royal. No source says the pool is on the roof or a top-floor terrace. The hotel's pages describe a private pool beside a poolside bar, a snack bar at beach level and a private beach, which points to ground level. Status is not-rooftop, but the level itself is unconfirmed.
Boutique Hotel Regina Sorrento. The hotel's own site places the pool in the citrus garden ("Piscina e giardino di agrumi"). The rooftop terrace is described only for aperitifs and drinks, with no pool mentioned. No source describes a roof or top-floor pool.
Sorrento rooftop pools: questions people ask
Which Sorrento hotels let non-guests swim?
None on our list sells day passes. Three hotels are guests only: Palazzo Guardati, Residence Le Terrazze and Grand Hotel Flora. Hotel Plaza and Grand Hotel De La Ville welcome outside visitors at their Skybar and rooftop bar, but pool access for non-guests isn't published.
Are any Sorrento rooftop pools heated or open in winter?
No. None of the eight publishes a heated pool, and average highs fall to 13.6°C in December and 12.5°C in January. Hotel Plaza's pool closes on 15 October. Grand Hotel De La Ville regulates its water temperature through the summer only.
Which Sorrento hotel has the highest rooftop pool?
Grand Hotel Flora is the only one that publishes a floor: its rooftop pool is on the 6th floor. It is open only to guests in Suites and Junior Suites. Hotel Minerva says its solarium pool sits on the highest part of that hotel.
How can I swim at a Sorrento rooftop pool for the least money?
The lowest-rated stay on our list is Hotel Villa Fiorita, a three-star with a 6 by 3 metre pool and two hot tubs. No hotel publishes pool prices, and none sells day passes, so the cost is the room rate.
When is the Hotel Plaza pool open?
Daily from 09:00 to 19:00, between 15 April and 15 October. The hotel's Skybar next to the pool can be used by outside visitors.
